近期，DNV GL与包括Done Energy，GE和Siemens公司在内的风电合作伙伴联手推出一个合作项目，旨在对湍流模型验证开发新的最佳实践（途径）。
该项目的目的是寻找一种途径，来对湍流模型有更好的理解，以便降低风电场设计过程中的不确定性，提高特定场址载荷评估的准确性，进而降低风电项目度电成本。
该团队还表示，目前的风电机组设计依赖于几十年前根据小型风机研究所得的湍流模型，随着风电机组容量与风轮直径的不断增大，目前的湍流模型在疲劳载荷评估中存在高达20%的偏差。
同时，现有的湍流模型也往往不能够适用于不满足平坦地形和中性稳定度的多数风场。
该团队将从30多个陆上和海上风电场搜集测风数据，以制定最佳的实践指导。
该团队的其他的合作伙伴包括：Christian Michelsen Research，DTU、Gamesa，NREL，SSE，Statoil，Suzlon， TechnoCentre éolien和Vattenfall公司。该项目还向新成员开放，需通过其指导委员会批准。
